❓ FAQ

Is it legal to download YouTube thumbnails?
Thumbnails belong to the creators who made them. Downloading for reference, inspiration, your own videos or commentary is common, but do not reuse someone else's thumbnail as your own or in a way that could mislead.
Why is the max resolution version missing?
YouTube only creates a 1280x720 version when the video was uploaded in HD or has a custom HD thumbnail. Use the next size down.
Does it work with Shorts?
Yes. Paste a Shorts link and it works the same way. Shorts thumbnails are usually a vertical 9:16 frame placed inside a 16:9 image, so expect bars at the sides. Crop them off if you need the vertical version.
Is there a limit?
No. It is free and unlimited, with no sign-up.
